Can I Submit Now? Ok, How About Now? Or Now?

I have submitted an unsolicited picture-book manuscript to a house that accepts these (with a policy of no reply unless there is interest). What do you think would be an acceptable waiting period before submitting a second manuscript?
Just long enough so that they don't clip the two manuscripts together (in which case probably only the manuscript on top would get read). Give it a week to be safe.

Really? I thought that it was a good idea to wait until their stated response time had elapsed; don't houses prefer to consider one MS at a time from any given author?

Sure, they prefer that. But with hundreds of manuscripts coming in every week, how in hell would they be able to tell?

LOL! Fair enough, EA.

One publisher says -- I wish I knew which one -- that they prefer you to wait the three or four months for them to read the first sub (and usually reject you by not replying to it) before you send them another. They say its so everyone can have a chance at getting read.

I have an unusual last name, so I'm always scared they'll just toss my stream of subs in the trash if I don't follow their directions.

New author fell for sales pitches on P.O.D. website. I paid the bill in 3 installments while putting up with their bully tactics.
Every step caused errors that they blamed on me and threatened to charge me to correct them.
Silly me thought I was the customer and they were the service provider!
We are working West to East Coast which makes it more complicated.
I picked the P.O.D. that had the best reputation on internet web sites. If they are the best, well...what a sad world we live in.
How do I find an advocate who will work with me and for me? I can't afford an attorney and don't appreciate law suits as a way to solve lack of cooperation.
I thought it was age discrimination, but now I see they are incompetent and I'm trapped in their contract.
