"...That said, maybe she called Editorial Anonymous next. Then she'd get some rude, and it would be delicious. Ooooooh, boy!"And grouchy.
"...but then I'd sound really old and possibly as grouchy as Editorial Anonymous."Well, my response TK! Sometime when I'm not finding this damn amusing.
In the meantime, feel free to tell me what else I am.
Hahaha... What I want to see is what you would have posted had this woman called you. I'm sure you would have been reasonably polite during the actual conversation.
ReplyDeleteActually, I envy both you and Moonrat for your ability to put your foot down. If it had been me, I'd have been stuck on the phone for a half hour trying to be nice to her and still got yelled at. :-)
Blue. Oh, wait, that's just your monster.
ReplyDeleteThat's just mean ...
ReplyDelete*hug*
If I thought you were rude and grouchy, I certainly wouldn't read your blog.
Um... awesome?
ReplyDeleteT. Rejectosaurus?
ReplyDeleteYou're also a squirrely girly.
ReplyDelete(You're the editor and should know the meanings of made-up words).
:-)
Er, practical?
ReplyDeleteWhere I come from "rude and grouchy" becomes "snarky and cranky." And we say that being cranky is a sign of exerience and being snarky is a sign of wisdom. ;)
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, I think you are COOL.
ReplyDeleteHahahaa! I hope you know I meant it in the best possible way!
ReplyDeleteWell, you got a loyal fan here. :)
ReplyDelete(Don't listen to them.)
Still no comments! Maybe we're all scared of you ...
ReplyDeleteI saw the first comment on Editorial Ass and I reckon you can take it as a compliment. For "rude", I think you could substitute "no nonsense"...
Not sure about the second. Your blog persona is "doesn't tolerate fools gladly", I think. Maybe -- just occasionally! -- scathingly so. But I wouldn't have said "grouchy". [And as for "old" ... hmph! Talk about rude :) ]
Nah, everyone loves you. And if your blog name has become a byword for anything (even grouchiness), I guess that means you've "made it". Maybe you've filled the vacuum left my Miss Snark...
How about kickass?
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks, guys.
ReplyDeleteespecially for the T Rejectosaurus.
PS, yeah, I know, Steve. ;)
ReplyDeleteTough but fair. Over-worked.
ReplyDeleteYou are generous. And funny.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that your free time is in short supply, and yet you use a little bit of it to help us be better writers and more successful queriers.
Thank you, and I hope you don't let name callers get you down because most of us really appreciate what you do here.
Oh, no, it's not getting me down. It tickles me.
ReplyDeleteBut the sad truth is that if that woman had gotten me on the phone, I would have been at least as patient as Moonie. In real life I keep a strict damper on my snarky tendencies.
Really helpful and kickass.
ReplyDeleteI get the feeling that the non-word-mincing tone of this blog is not your style in real life. That's the beauty of an anonymous blog.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if Miss Snark were supremely sweet in real life.
Take "rude and grouchy" as a compliment in this case, and keep telling it like it is!
WOW - just be glad it wasn't a call to your cell phone - I hope.
ReplyDeleteI got rid of my landline during the elections - I had 34 calls from political activists in one day.
but... but... we love you for it!!!
ReplyDeletei count on you to tell them all the true dirt; i don't have the cojones :)
per your last comment--ha! i knew you were a secret softie.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to be about as Rude and Angry as Kristen Nelson over at Pubrants.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, not so much.....
I think part of the problem is that when you say (in essence) 'I don't like crummy books!' about half the people who WRITE crummy books think you're being mean and unfair.
The other half smack the forehead, say "Darn it, I just realized I've been writing junk!" and try to get better.....
You're rude and grouchy the same was Moonie was to Jane Smith, which is to say, NAH!
ReplyDeleteThe best kind of parents practice 'tough love,' meaning they set high standards for their children and then hold them to it. When the kids are misbehaving, you tell them 'no' and correct their mistakes. How else are we to learn? Certainly not by being coddled.
ReplyDeleteAnd children ultimately prefer parents like this and thank them later in life for molding them into the strong, successful people they have become. So thanks, EA!
No offense at all meant by the comment. It was meant in the highest praise. I've done numerous blogs with myself as more of the Miss Snark of things, and I think my students often think of me as old and snarky & grouchy & I'm good with that! :-). I apologize -- part of why I enjoy your blog is because you're so no b-s, just like moonrat & just like Janet Reid. It was meant as a badge of honor.
ReplyDeleteWe should all be so rude and grouchy. And funny. And smart. Make my day, EA.
ReplyDeleteNo offense taken, Laraine, honestly!
ReplyDeleteNo need to apologize.
But thanks for clarifying. :)

ReplyDelete8-)
I would have taken that as a compliment...I love snarks. ;)
ReplyDeleteRealistic. (And funny!)
ReplyDeleteRude and grouchy makes life interesting. Better than nice and cute.
ReplyDeleteRude and grouchy make life interesting. They're far better than nice and cute.
ReplyDeleteAlthough your postings can be viewed
ReplyDeleteas sometimes bordering on rude,
the overwhelming attitude
your entertaining posts exude
is one of great solicitude
for anyone who writes or who'd
strive to be a bit more shrewd
about the details that elude
beginners and which might preclude
publication. I conclude,
although my rhyming might be crude,
and you might even think I'm stewed,
I disagree with those who booed
and, in a non-subjunctive mood,
I'll end this sing-song interlude
by tendering my gratitude.
I'm putting that up on my bulletin board!
ReplyDelete:)
I was going to say something nice but that poem is so great! Bob's said it all ;)
ReplyDeleteHater of squirrels?
ReplyDelete*sniff*
Say it ain't so!
You are pretty callous.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm afraid I am sometimes.
ReplyDeleteIt's a character flaw.
I'm not sure how to go about being more feeling, though.
Wow, a big kudos of respect to you. Just keep a reserve of sympathy in secret, even if it's anonymous.
ReplyDeleteBanned complain !! Complaining only causes life and mind become more severe. Enjoy the rhythm of the problems faced. No matter ga life, not a problem not learn, so enjoy it :)
