Very entertaining. It reminded me of an email that went around a while ago, with darkly humorous children's book titles like, "Strangers Have the Best Candy," "Some Kittens Can Fly!" and "What Is That Dog Doing To That Other Dog?" There were a lot more, but I can't remember them.
Thank you so so much EA! Didn't get to play this time because I was out of town and couldn't figure out how to submit on my cell phone, but I spent a lovely afternoon writing horrible pitches I will never force you to read...and reading those by others was great great fun. Hope for more contests again in the future, and thanks.
Thanks for the contest, EA! Would love to hear some more about the entries. How many did you receive? How many would you have requested (was it just the three you cited?) What were some common trouble spots?
The rest weren't ignored. They weren't bad enough to use as examples or good enough to request... yet, at least. And I thought about having a bit of "pitch clinic" after the contest, but I got somewhere around 60 pitches, and I can't do all of them.
EA: As an entrant not picked, I'd like to say that if you did a bit of a pitch clinic on some (even if mine wasn't one), I'd be very appreciative. I don't think anyone expects you to go through 60...but maybe if you went through 3, it might help the other 57. You could ask people who entered but didn't win to re-submit for consideration to be critiqued with the knowledge that not all would be critiqued. We know you're busy and are appreciative of all that you do!
(PS: And this is just a suggestion; I'm not trying to be bossy! I really do appreciate you taking time out of your day to help us!)
I say many thanks to the father of the website admin I read this, because at this website I know a lot of information information that I did not know before his
Thank you so much, EA! Appreciate the contest, the, um, more interesting entries, the feedback on what works and what doesn't.
ReplyDeleteProbably the majority of us have evil minds . . .
ReplyDeleteThis was lots of fun! Thanks for taking the time and have a great weekend!
That was fun - participating AND reading the results! You clearly have too much time on your hands.

ReplyDeleteThanks!
Those were brilliant. "Daddy Drinks Because You Cry." "Why Mr. Fork and Ms. Electrical Socket Can't Be Friends." "You're Different and That's Bad."
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU! Very enlightening :)
ReplyDeleteScary. Very, very, scary. All I can do is cross my fingers and hope most of those people were joking.
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing, but I worry about letting some of those people have pens...
Thank you so much!!! This has been fun, and a great learning experience!!
ReplyDelete:-)
These were entertaining. But the rest are just ignored? Phewey. I hoped to get some comment on mine.

Heh... anonymous, that email seems strangely reminiscent of
ReplyDelete"Uncle Shelby's ABZ book..."
(I LOVE this book-- especially the bit about fire-engines... and elephants.....)

So, that would be okay--just grouping the serious ones into "no way" or "maybe, with work."
ReplyDeleteSorry to sound so needy, but it's hard to know what's not working, the pitch or the concept--so any feedback is useful!
In any case, thank you for giving those of us who entered the push to polish.

No Bush Sr./Jr. Award? Dang, I thought you'd get some doozies for that one.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Great feedback, and you made my day.
