If you've noticed a sudden spike in the number of typos in this blog, it's because for the last few posts I haven't been able to use the spellcheck function. The button is still there, but nothing happens when I click it.
Anyone know what I should do?
A discussion on just this matter circulated on the kidlitosphere listserv. Blogger knows of the problem and is working on it. (It still seems to work if you're working on a Mac. If you're working on a PC, blogger will still show misspellings by underlining them in red on Firefox, but not on IE. You can't autocorrect on either at the moment.)
ReplyDeleteGet Firefox! Current version has an automatic spellchecker. (Look, it just underlined "spellchecker" in red--apparently it is not a word.)
ReplyDeleteWhile Blogger's working on the problem, select and cut your post text and paste it into your word-processing program. Check the spelling there, and then paste the corrected text back into your post.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't work for me, either. Horrors!!!
ReplyDeleteYou can use the spellchecker in the Google toolbar, too, if you have it. (I don't remember if the Yahoo toolbar has one).
ReplyDeleteFirefox has a spellcheck feature. I use that for my browser. Before that, I used to write my posts in Microsoft Word, use the spellcheck function, and then copy and paste them into the post.
ReplyDeleteUmmm...hire a copyeditor? Isn't that what all editors do?
ReplyDeleteWell, EA, if you decide to follow Eluper's advice, I'm a copyeditor. ;-)
ReplyDeletePublishers hire copyeditors. Editors are too poor. But if anyone wants to point out my errors, I'll be happy to fix them.
