Slush and Punishment: Squirrels!

A squirrel has being napped when the loud noise he acorn fallen awoke. Looking for, every in microscopic beautiful leaves, seen precipitation in conspicuous large nuts.
You got a C- in Beginning English as a Foreign Language, huh? And figured you’re now at least as literate as English-speaking children? Wrong.

(Also, ‘conspicuous large nuts’?)

  3. Now I keep hearing the words "conspicuous large nuts" over and over again, like a bad song. Please make it stop.

  4. Seuss gave us political commentary disguised as children's lit...others attempt to give us...uh...oh nuts, I can't say it.

  5. This looks a lot like a 20-page picture book manuscript I saw at a critique group meeting. You know, one of those where you're looking for something good to say, like, "Wow! I couldn't wait to get to the end!" or, "This part was good-- at least I wasn't looking for something to stab myself in the eyeballs with!"

  6. I'm a little worried... this author may have stolen ideas from my query letter posting on querytracker.net of my rhyming picture book, "Sparky Squirrel Finds His Nuts." I suppose next they'll try to rip-off the sequel, "Sparky Squirrel Explores Uranus."

  7. I'm guessing this was a Google translation.

ae, I think you meant to say "I'm going back to be napped."

  8. Do you ever find yourself wondering why these people have never discovered Microsoft Grammar checker?

  9. Correction Dierdre, they're probably writing like that BECAUSE they've discovered Microsoft grammar checker. Have you seen some of the stuff it spits out? ;)

And EA, despite your conspicuous nuts, this blog is rated PG! How about giving us the UN-EDITED version ;)

  10. Rilla -- You're right. I ran the selected passage through grammar checker and all it mentioned was that the second sentence was a fragment.

I've always found grammar checker helpful for the times when I think faster than I type and end up leaving out words...

But perhaps it only works if you've used something approaching English to start with.
